Insensate

"Conjuring a macabre phantasmagoria that unfurls before your eyes like a sinister but beautiful bloom, Insensate showcases the brutal geometry and raw creative fire of Gareth Pugh's A/W 2008 collection to truly bewitching effect. Set to a thundering, atmospheric soundtrack specially devised by artist Matthew Stone and utlising Pugh's twin cinematic inspirations of Predator and The Wizard of Oz as an aesthetic starting-point, this film takes us on a mesmerising, monochrome whirlwind ride, creating a chilling yet compelling world of complex reflection, refraction and glittering incandescence melting in and out of inky black."

Lovely!! Watch the movie.

Saturday november the 15th was the day my world went upside-down... I became father.
Say hallo to Birk!

Being the best should be fun

He was joking on the starting blocks.
He reacted last to the gun.
He ran against the wind.
He didn't tie his PUMAs.
He jogged over the finish line.
He broke the world record.
Then he danced.
And reminded us that
Being the best should be fun.

Usain Bolt.
3 gold medals. 3 world records.

On Display

In On Display Maurice Scheltens demonstrates the art of staging and reassembling objects into surreal miniature worlds. His style is playful and highly personalised and his work ranges from art pieces to applied projects and editorial commissions.
Rearranged and reedited for this glossy-book, the photographs in On Display represent an overview of Scheltens’s work of the last ten years. Alongside commissions from Vitra and Nike, Fantastic Man and Wallpaper, it also includes work for galleries and museums. An essay by Emily King reflects on Scheltens’s multi-layered constructions and cross-references the worlds of fashion, design, architecture, painting, photography and graphics.

The Book will be launched at Colette during the Paris Photo 2008. Can't wait to see it! Check Maurice Scheltens & Veenman Publishers

Industrial meets craft

Beautiful bottles by Tomas Kral: "The idea is to use traditionnals decorative technics for crystal glass like cutting, engraving, gilding to “upgrade” existing industrial glass packaging like milk bottles or jars for tomato sauce."

It could happen...

It could happen any time,
tornado, earthquake, armageddon.
It could happen.
Or sunshine, love,
salvation.

It could, you know. That's
why we wake
and look out - no
guarantees
in this life.

But some bonuses, like
morning,
like right now, like noon,
like evening.
